My name is Dr Laura Randle
By day, I am a research scientist, university lecturer and STEM ambassador. By night, I am a guide and ranger leader and science geek. I have also been recognised by Girlguiding NWE Express! committee as a #realrole model.
I completed a BSc (Hons) in Pharmacology at The University of Liverpool before studying for my PhD in Pharmacology and Toxicology, also at The University of Liverpool. I completed 5 years research as a post-doctoral research scientist before taking up my academic position at LJMU. I have since returned to UoLivwhere I am now a senior lecturer, the department public engagement lead and a STEM ambassador.
In May 2023, I organised the inaugural LJMU Pint of Science. We had great fun showcasing the research from across the faculty to members of the public in the wonderful hospital surroundings of Murphy's Gin Bar and Distillery.

Please see the case study I wrote in conjunction with All About STEM regarding the impact of my STEM workshops.

I have previously worked with Skcin, a national skin cancer awareness charity to educate young people in sun safety through their sun safe schools initiative.
I began running science workshops in 2013 helping to run the CSI-themed transition event for guides and senior section members in Girlguiding Cheshire Forest. I was then asked to help run the Science zone at Chamboree 2014.
After this, I began offering to run science badge workshops to local units in 2015 to aid my fundraising for my second trip to Gambia. I have now run sciencesessions for over 1000 young people across Cheshire, Merseyside and greater Manchester.
